We are an a cappella choir of about 24 able singers based in Shipston-on-Stour. Our repertoire is almost entirely unaccompanied, in anything from 4 to 10 parts. It ranges from English and European madrigals to music from the 21st century; from the challenging to the disarmingly simple, and from the deepest tingle-factor to the utterly frivolous.

Cantamus was founded in 1997 by Richard Emms and has been delighting audiences ever since. We perform for music societies, for charitable, private events and weddings in the South Midlands and the North Cotswolds. Often our programmes are in collaboration with Anne Hume, a professional actor who provides witty and apposite readings interspersed among the music.
“It was perfect. The balance of reading and music was just right, and the singing was superb.”
Cantamus is also in demand for its liturgical performances of masses by Byrd, Palestrina and Victoria.
We are always interested in new opportunities, so if you would like to stage a concert or planning an event then please go to our For Promoters page to find out more and do get in touch with us!
